My boy bestie automatically gets 1st dibs on my comp tickets for the rest of my life
Shout out to following major players in finding my phone:
- the security guard who rmbr me losing my phone last year
- my sister & husband who were fried on a street car listening to me panic looking for my phone
- male friend 2 & 3 for sticking around while we searched
- male friend 4 for went missing until 1:55AM after JabJab
And that concludes day 3 of my Toronto Carnival weekend. Don’t ask me where my wallet is. Might’ve lost that, but don’t worry, I paid my rent!
PA I blame the Sunset drinks we had

Attending Toronto Carnival, especially during the energetic JabJab festivities, is always an unforgettable experience. Having been through similar Carnival weekends myself, I can completely relate to the panic and chaos when losing a phone amidst the crowds and excitement. It really highlights how valuable having supportive friends and helpful strangers around can be. In my own experience, securing your belongings during such lively events is a real challenge, but it’s part of the adventure that adds to the story afterward. The blend of Caribbean culture, music, and vibrant costumes makes Toronto Carnival stand out as one of the most joyful celebrations in Canada. The JabJab, with its colorful tradition and spirited crowd, often becomes the peak moment where memories are made (and sometimes phones misplaced!). It’s inspiring to see how people come together, from security personnel to close friends and even random fellow revelers, all invested in helping each other out. This sense of community is what truly enriches the Carnival experience beyond just the dancing and drinks. One tip I’ve learned is to designate a trusted friend as a ‘phone guardian’ or keep your essential items in a secure, body-worn pouch to avoid the hassle of losing valuables. Still, even when things go awry, the support system you have—like your ‘boy bestie’ scoring first dibs on complimentary tickets—turns mishaps into lasting fun stories. And yes, the sunset drinks certainly add to the Carnival spirit, making the event feel magical and a bit unpredictable! Overall, embracing the spontaneous and sometimes unpredictable nature of Toronto Carnival makes it a highlight of the year. The shared experiences, laughter, and help from those around you are the real treasures that stay long after the music fades.
