💛Tips for traveling to Cartagena,Colombia (Pt.1)💛
I spent a week in Cartagena, Colombia, earlier this year for my birthday. Usually, I have a great idea of a place before I travel there, but I ran into a few surprises.
✨1. If you don’t want to be bothered by vendors every 3 seconds, you need to go to the island beaches.
I went to Éteka on my birthday, which was stunning and aesthetically pleasing. It was more relaxing, and if you want more of a party vibe, Bora Bora is the place for you!
✨2. If you don’t know Spanish, download the Translate app. You can download languages offline when you don’t have WiFi or an internet connection. While I was there, many people, including hotel staff, did not speak English, so I would type what I wanted to say and just show the translation on my phone.
The Translate app saved my life because I could understand, but I couldn’t respond back in Spanish.
✨3. You can get great pictures anywhere in Cartagena, but Getsemani has all the best photo ops. It’s very walkable, and it helps to pin some landmarks on Google Maps to find specific landmarks—the street with the world flags, the colorful umbrellas, beautiful murals, and art.
I even bought some art in Getsemani and they package it up safely for you to take back home!
