GREEN DAY 💸
Finished this week in the green and above 50k on my combine using 10 micros in MGC 😎 #ThroughHimTrading #daytrading #trading #accountability #beginner
Hey everyone! So thrilled to share my success this week, passing my Topstep $50k combine and finishing in the green! It means a lot to finally hit that milestone, especially seeing my balance at $50,337.62 and securing a solid RP&L of $997.60. It’s been a journey, and I wanted to dive a bit deeper into one of the most common questions I get: how to handle max contracts on a Topstep $50k account, specifically with MGC (Micro Gold futures). One of the biggest hurdles for traders in a combine is understanding and adhering to the rules, especially around maximum contracts. For the Topstep $50k account, when trading Micro E-mini Gold (MGC) futures, the maximum number of contracts you can have open at any given time is 10. This is a critical piece of information, and it's exactly what I stuck to this week. My strategy wasn't just about hitting the 10-micro limit; it was about using those 10 micros wisely. For me, 10 micros in MGC felt like the sweet spot. It provided enough leverage to capture significant moves in the market without leading to excessive risk. I found that this number allowed for flexibility – I could scale into positions, adding contracts as my conviction grew, or reduce them quickly if the trade wasn't going my way. It’s not always about taking the maximum; it’s about having the option to do so when the setup is pristine and managing that risk meticulously. Risk management was paramount. Even with 10 micros, the market can move quickly, and losses can accumulate. My focus was on small, consistent gains. This meant cutting losses quickly when a trade turned against me and letting my winners run just enough to hit my profit targets. The beauty of the Topstep combine is that it forces you to develop and stick to a disciplined risk management plan. I wasn't always trading all 10 contracts; sometimes I'd start with 2 or 5, adding more if the price action confirmed my thesis. This scaling approach helped preserve my capital and keep my daily drawdown in check, which is essential for passing the combine. My daily routine involved thorough market analysis before the open, identifying key levels and potential setups. I focused on high-probability entries and had clear exit strategies, both for profit and for cutting losses. The goal was consistency, not home runs. I aimed to protect my capital balance, ensuring I stayed above the $50k mark, which as you can see from my recent balance, I achieved! It's proof that with a solid plan and disciplined execution, hitting those green days and even securing an RP&L like $997.60 is totally achievable!
