“You need to eliminate X food(s)”
FIRST…this is not me saying that what you eat doesn’t matter. It absolutely does. Nutrition is a huge piece of the acne puzzle. And if someone is living off processed sugar, fast food, and packaged products, then yes… cleaning that up is going to make a difference.
👉🏼But what I’m referring to is the unnecessary restriction of foods like eggs, dairy, gluten..foods that people are told to cut out “just because” they have acne. Unless you have a true intolerance, allergy, or a specific medical reason… your body should be able to tolerate these foods.
And if it can’t? That’s not the root issue..that’s a signal!!
What I see happen all the time is that someone starts removing all of these “trigger foods,” but they don’t actually replace them with nourishing, balanced options. They end up under-eating, missing key nutrients (especially protein and healthy fats), and unintentionally putting more stress on their body…which worsens acne.
This is why so many people feel frustrated. They’re doing “everything right,” eating super clean, avoiding all the “bad foods”… and their acne is still there. Or worse.
Ironically, I can’t tell you how many clients (and even myself at one point) saw their skin start to improve when we actually started adding foods back in. More protein. More variety. Even foods they were once told to avoid..like eggs or high-quality dairy.
Not because those foods are inherently healing…but because the body was finally being supported instead of deprived!!
And if you do notice that certain foods trigger your skin? That’s important but it doesn’t mean the solution is lifelong restriction. It means we need to ask WHY your body is reacting in the first place.
Most of the time, this ties back to deeper root causes like gut imbalances, poor digestion, blood sugar instability, or chronic stress.
So reminder that you skin healing journey is about building a body that can actually tolerate, process, and thrive on a wide range of real, nourishing foods!! If you’re stuck in the cycle of cutting more foods and still breaking out… this may be your sign to take a different approach 🤍

Addressing those deeper imbalances through mindful eating, stress management, and sometimes supplementation made a big difference. Ultimately, the key lesson is that acne is rarely caused by just one factor, and healing involves building resilience and tolerance towards a wide range of nourishing foods.
