Ultradian Rhythms are 90-minute cycles during which your brain operates at peak focus. After roughly 90 minutes, your brain signals a need for rest to recharge. Ignoring this need can lead to mental fatigue, decreased efficiency, and eventual burnout. By scheduling your work around these cycles—working intensely for 90 minutes, then taking a 15-20 minute break—you align your productivity with your biology. These breaks are essential and should be treated as part of your work routine, not as downtime to feel guilty about. They allow your brain to recover, preventing the afternoon crashes and lethargy that many experience after prolonged work without rest. Adopting this technique can help you accomplish more in less time while maintaining energy levels and creativity.
