... Read moreHey everyone! So excited to share more about my latest digital fan art of Splatoon's Marie. You might have seen the finished piece featuring her elegantly dressed in a black ruffled gown, complete with a pearl necklace and a stylish black hat with a bow, all accented by her distinctive black eye markings against a soft grey background. But there's so much more to creating fanart that truly captures a character's essence! When I start a piece like this, getting the details right, from the flow of the gown to Marie's unique expression, is key. My process often begins with a rough digital sketch to get the pose and proportions right, followed by detailed line art. If you saw the screenshot of my digital art program, you'd notice the 'layers panel' with various named layers – that's how I build up the artwork, adding colors, shadows, and highlights in stages. It’s a common approach in many digital art styles, allowing for flexibility and refinement. While this particular piece showcases Marie in a more formal, elegant gown, it's always fun to think about other possibilities. I often brainstorm ideas for what her 'casual outfit' might look like, or even different 'splatoon hairstyle ideas' beyond her iconic look. Reimagining these beloved characters in new contexts is one of the best parts of creating fanart! Speaking of outfits and characters, fanart is such a huge inspiration for cosplay! Imagine this elegant Marie gown as a real-life cosplay – it would be absolutely stunning. The Splatoon universe is full of incredible designs. The Squid Sisters, Off the Hook's Pearl and Marina, and even Harmony from Deep Cut all have such iconic looks. Seeing how fans adapt their designs for 'splatoon squid sisters cosplay,' 'harmony splatoon cosplay,' or unique art pieces is incredibly inspiring. Each character, including Marina and Pearl, offers so much creative potential for artists and cosplayers alike. Being part of the Splatoon 'fandom' is awesome because everyone shares so much creativity and passion for the game. Creating 'splatoon art' is a wonderful way to express my love for the world of Inkopolis and connect with other fans. Sometimes I aim for 'cute drawings,' other times a more dynamic or elegant style, just like this Marie piece. While this artwork focuses on the character herself, I sometimes love to envision characters within a specific 'scene drawing style,' imagining them interacting with different environments, which adds another layer of storytelling to the art. I hope this gives you a little more insight into my artistic journey and why I love bringing the Splatoon universe to life through my art!
