an elevated monte cristo you need to try..
This elevated Monte Cristo is my new obsession.. sweet, savory, melty, and perfect for slow mornings. I swapped the traditional ham + Swiss for turkey and creamy Brie, and the flavor is unreal. The raspberry jam adds the perfect sweet‑tart contrast, and dipping the sandwich in the egg mixture gives it that classic French‑toast crisp on the outside. It’s cozy, indulgent, and honestly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve made in a long time. Save this one for later!!
✨ Tips & Tricks ✨
Freeze your Brie for 5-10 minutes before slicing, this makes it easier to slice.
Low & slow heat helps the sandwich get golden, without burning the egg coating
✨ Variations ✨
Swap the jam for blackberry or fig for a different flavor profile.
Top with an egg for a brunch style
Add bacon for extra crunch and saltiness
Ingredients:
2 slices of brioche or Texas toast
2-3 oz sliced turkey
2-3 oz thin sliced brie
1-2 tbsp raspberry jam
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
Butter (for frying)
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Directions:
1. Spread a thin layer of raspberry jam, add brie slices, turkey, then another bread slice.
2. In a shallow baking dish, whisk together the egg & milk. Heat a pan over medium heat, with a little butter.
3. Dip your sandwich in the egg mixture, both sides for a few seconds. Add to your hot pan, and cook both sides until golden brown.
4. Dust your sandwich with powdered sugar once finished, and serve with extra raspberry jam. Enjoy!
