... Read moreEver wanted to experiment with a septum piercing but aren't quite ready for the real deal, or just love a good DIY project? That's exactly how I felt! I discovered that making your own fake septum piercing is not only incredibly easy but also allows for endless customization. It's a fantastic way to try out a new look without any pain, permanence, or significant cost. Plus, there's something so satisfying about wearing a piece of jewelry you've crafted yourself! Based on my experience creating my own DIY septum jewelry, here’s a simple guide to help you make your own. The best part is you can ensure all your materials are nickel-free, which is great for sensitive skin. What You'll Need: Seed Beads: These are tiny beads that come in a huge variety of colors and finishes. I often look for quality seed beads, sometimes from brands like Bead Landing, to ensure they're comfortable and durable for my Diy Septum Jewelry. Flexible Wire or Small Jump Rings: You'll want a thin, bendable wire (like craft wire, ideally silver-plated or made from a hypoallergenic metal) or small, open jump rings. Ensure it's nickel-free. Small Pliers (optional but helpful): Round-nose pliers and wire cutters can make shaping and securing the wire much easier. Measuring Tape or Ruler: To get the right size for your nose. Step-by-Step Guide to Your DIY Septum Piercing: Choose Your Design: Decide how many beads you want and what colors. For a subtle look, fewer beads are better. For a bolder statement, you can use more or slightly larger ones. Prepare Your Wire: If using wire, cut a piece about 2-3 inches long. If using a jump ring, ensure it's open enough to thread beads. Thread Your Beads: Carefully slide your chosen seed beads onto the wire or jump ring. Make sure they fit snugly but aren't too tight. Shape Your Piercing: Once your beads are threaded, gently bend the wire into a horseshoe or 'C' shape. This will mimic the look of a real septum ring. Ensure the ends are close enough to hold securely in your nose but not so close they pinch. Refine the Ends: Use your pliers to gently smooth any sharp edges on the wire ends. You can create tiny loops or just bend them inwards to ensure comfort and prevent scratching your skin. The goal is to make it feel smooth when worn. Adjust for Fit: Carefully try on your fake septum. Adjust the curve and the gap between the ends until it sits comfortably and securely just inside your nostrils. Remember, comfort is key for prolonged wear! Pro Tips for a Realistic Look & Comfort: Size Matters: Smaller beads tend to look more natural and less bulky. Experiment with different sizes until you find what you love. Nickel-Free is a Must: Always double-check that your wire or jump rings are nickel-free, especially if you have sensitive skin. This prevents irritation. Smooth Edges: This can't be stressed enough! Rough edges will make it uncomfortable and could even cause tiny scratches. Practice Makes Perfect: Don't be discouraged if your first attempt isn't perfect. It took me a couple of tries to get the shaping just right! Making your own DIY septum jewelry is such a rewarding project. It allows you to express your unique style without commitment and explore different aesthetics. Give it a try – you might just find your new favorite accessory!

If you’re making your own traditional mooncakes this year, here are a few tips! 1. Do not sub golden syrup with honey. I’ve tried this before and it made the dough easier to crack. Golden syrup is an inverted sugar that prevents the sugars from crystallizing and keeps the dough soft 👍 2. Whe
