Ever feel like you’re everyone’s therapist, late-night text responder, and ultimate problem solver—but when your world is crashing down, your phone is completely silent?

It’s exhausting to pour 100% of your energy into cups that wouldn’t even give you a drop. Being a supportive friend is beautiful, but matching people's energy isn't petty—it's self-preservation.

How to transition out of the "Free Therapist" role:

Practice the "Let Me Get Back to You" text: You don't have to reply instantly to a 5-minute voice note rant. Take your time.

Check your emotional bank account: If a relationship is all withdrawals and zero deposits, it’s time to close the account.

Protect your peace: It is not your job to fix lives you didn't break.

Choose the people who choose you back. You deserve reciprocal love, effort, and support. 🤍

... Read moreI used to be the ‘go-to person’ for my friends’ troubles. No matter the hour, I was the one they texted, vented to, and sought advice from. It felt rewarding at first, but over time, I noticed how emotionally exhausting it became, especially when my own struggles were met with silence. One change that helped me was adopting the “Let Me Get Back to You” approach. Instead of replying immediately to long voice notes or emotionally charged messages, I gave myself the space to process before responding. This small pause helped me avoid burnout and communicate more clearly. Another realization was checking my emotional bank account. I started noticing which relationships felt like constant withdrawals without deposits. It was tough to admit, but stepping back from those one-sided connections actually restored my sense of peace and balance. Protecting your peace isn’t about being selfish—it's about self-preservation. You don't have to fix everyone’s problems, especially if they didn’t invest in your well-being. Choosing relationships where support flows both ways changed how I felt daily. Also, I found that setting boundaries upfront made a huge difference. I began gently explaining when I needed time for myself, which surprisingly led some friends to respect and appreciate me more. If you’re exhausted from being the ‘free therapist,’ know that you’re not alone. It’s okay to step back, prioritize your mental health, and cultivate friendships where your kindness is returned. After all, sustainable relationships are built on mutual support, respect, and love.

if you’re bad at being consistent, read this ➡️
my whole life i defined consistency as perfection. if i slipped up, missed a day, made a mistake, then in my head i “broke my streak” and had to start all over again (which is super discouraging) but consistency isn’t doing everything exactly right every day. it’s about showing up to the table -
