Me trying to survive a 9 AM lecture like... 🛑

POV: You're taking notes in class, but your brain already started tomorrow's nap. 😴📚🐾

7/5 Edited to

... Read moreEarly morning lectures can feel like a real challenge, especially when your brain is already craving a nap. I’ve been there too—sitting in class, trying to jot down notes while feeling like my mind is miles away. What helps me is first acknowledging that it’s normal to feel this way, especially with the pressure of constant deadlines and busy schedules. One trick I use is what I call the 'focus mode'—I prepare mentally before class by reviewing the syllabus or key points I want to learn. It gives me a sense of direction and purpose. Also, I bring a little 'anxiety survival kit' with me: a small bottle of water, some light snacks, and a stress ball, which help keep me grounded and alert. Sometimes, when my thoughts start overthinking everything (like the slide says "VERTHINKING 101"), I remind myself to take it one step at a time. This helps reduce overwhelm and mental fatigue. If you find your brain drifting into "zZz" territory, as seen in the relatable meme moments from my experience, try integrating micro-breaks—look away from your notes every 20 minutes to stretch or blink slowly to rest your eyes. Even subtle changes in posture can refresh your focus. Finally, developing a personalized note-taking style can make lectures more engaging—for instance, using symbols, doodles, or bullet points to keep the process interactive. Surviving 9 AM lectures isn’t just about physical wakefulness; it’s about mental readiness and self-care techniques that build your endurance over time. You've got this!
