Never too late to get that degree 🧑‍🎓

Going back to school after graduating with my AA. It’s a challenge that’ll be worth it in the end. I’ve held myself back and allowed corporate America to persuade me to focus on building their business. This time, I choose me. I chose to go back and get another degree. I choose to help save lives. I choose to be 1% better. It’s never too late to go back to school . No matter your age, if you have the ability to do so, go for it! Have faith and move that mountain with the help of God!

Broward College - North Campus
2025/3/29 Edited to

... Read moreIt's so easy to get caught up in the daily grind, isn't it? For a long time, I questioned if a university degree was truly necessary for success, especially after having established myself in the professional world. Many argue that experience trumps formal education, and in some fields, that's absolutely true. However, reflecting on my own goals, particularly my aspiration to 'help save lives,' I realized that for my path, a bachelor's degree wasn't just a piece of paper—it was a critical stepping stone to gain the specialized knowledge and credentials needed to make a real impact. Going back to school later in life, especially for a bachelor's degree, comes with its own set of unique considerations. For me, the decision to enroll at Broward College was a pivotal one. I remember seeing 'BROWARD COLLEGE' prominently displayed on the welcome mat, a symbol of a new beginning. Researching colleges, I looked for institutions that offered flexible programs for adult learners, strong support systems, and reputable programs in my desired field. Broward College stood out with its accessible campus options and diverse course offerings, making it a practical choice for balancing my existing commitments. For anyone pondering, 'Is a university degree necessary for success in 2020 and beyond?', my answer is, 'It depends on your definition of success and your chosen path.' For career changers, those looking for advancement into leadership roles, or individuals entering regulated professions, a bachelor's degree can be indispensable. It often provides a foundational understanding, critical thinking skills, and a network that can accelerate professional growth. Furthermore, it's about personal enrichment—the joy of learning, challenging yourself, and proving that your intellectual curiosity knows no age limit. The journey isn't without its challenges, of course. Juggling work, family, and studies requires immense discipline and time management. I've learned to be incredibly intentional with my schedule, sometimes studying late into the night or early mornings. Financial planning is another big hurdle, but exploring scholarships, grants, and employer tuition assistance programs can make a huge difference. The key is to remember why you started. For me, it's about being 1% better every day, striving towards a purpose bigger than myself. If I can do it, embracing this new chapter at Broward College, you absolutely can too. It's never too late to invest in yourself and your future, and the rewards—both personal and professional—are truly immeasurable.
