iOS 18!

Homescreen- we can finally place apps where we want them, no extra apps needed for the “blank” spaces!
The apps are also able to be tinted using color bars (pictured) or a specific color matching something on the screen using the picker tool in the top right corner of the menu.
This can be accessed by long-pressing the screen, pushing the “+” up in the top left corner of the screen, and hitting customize.
Wallpapers- Of course we have our well-known custom wallpapers (iOS 18). Nothing new there, other than the wallpapers, obviously.
Control Center- I absolutely LOVE the control center! OMG. It’s so cute! Apple has added new options for the controls, and as you see, you can place them anywhere. I’ve edited everything I could with mine. There is now 3 parts to this menu. This is one of the best new features, IMO. There is also a dedicated section for the music widget as well as wireless/data controls.
FACE ID FOR APPS- I know this has been available for a few years with the assistance of the Shortcuts app, but now it’s native in the iOS system. I really need this because my niece loves to steal my phone and goes through anything that she can possibly click on.
Messages - Another favorite feature of mine. They’re colored the emoji reactions (tapback) and added the option to use ANY emoji! ALSO, you can now use word effects when pressing the “A” with the 3 lines on the far left of the screen where your emoji suggestions and word predictions appear. You can also schedule messages as well, which is the “+” right before your text message.
Calculator- You can now access your history, choose between basic or scientific, make math notes (that automatically do the math, and convert numbers, right in the app. These features can be accessed by pressing the mini calculator in the bottom left corner. The menu at the top left corner is your history (also beneficial)
Notes- You can now record and/or transcribe audio right in the notes app by clicking the little paperclip on the bottom menu. I love this because I record everything, but I also love notes so now I can do both at once!
Lockscreen- The flashlight and camera icon that we all know and love can now FINALLY be changed ! I won’t personally change mine because I use those buttons almost every time I breathe, but this will definitely benefit somebody.
Eye Tracking- I just noticed this in the settings and I haven’t touched my screen since then. Oh my LANTA! And it works flawlessly ! You literally can use your phone with only your eyes, and it tracks them perfectly, but now I’ve noticed how much my eyes move when I’m looking at stuff, not sure if its because my focus is trash (ADD, ADHD, and a few more issues) but this feature is SPECTACULAR !
Record Phone Calls- You can now record and transcribe phone calls, and YES, the other person WILL be alerted that you are recording, this is great for me because I have the memory span of a goldfish.
AirPods- this is for the pros (I believe) I’m still rocking my gen ones (I also think) so I haven’t tested this one, but now when Siri asks you “yes” or “no” questions, you can nod to answer.
Photos- I like the newer update, the initial view isn’t entirely too different, but there is now a “Recent Days” section when you scroll down and also a “People & Pets” section, which I love! Photo filtering is also much easier now and I live in my photos (THANK YOU PINTEREST, SNAPCHAT AND LEMON8).
Password App- Now instead of going to the settings for the password, there is a dedicated app! I use mine daily so I needed this !

Also, don’t forget to consider the fact that there may be bugs! I have not had one issue, and I usually don’t but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there so think about that before downloading!!!
