Sunday afternoon movie
I spent Easter Sunday on the couch. I had the place to myself and I popped in this 80's classic. It's been a minute since I've seen this movie. It's both sad and entertaining. Sid Vicious's rise to punk rock notoriety and his downward spiral into drug addiction with his gal pal, Nancy Spungen.
My favorite line in the movie ~ "Sid, what about our farewell drug?!" 🤘🏼
The 1986 film 'Sid and Nancy,' directed by Alex Cox, provides an in-depth look at the tumultuous relationship between the Sex Pistols' bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. Their passionate yet destructive love story unfolds against the backdrop of the 1970s punk rock scene in London. With a powerful soundtrack and striking visuals, the film not only portrays the rise and fall of Vicious but also highlights the dark allure of fame and addiction. This cult classic has garnered much attention over the years for its raw depiction of the punk culture and serves as a cautionary tale about the perils of drug dependency. The Criterion Collection release ensures that this film is accessible for both new viewers and longtime fans, offering bonus features and insights that enhance the viewing experience.
