EVERYONE YOU MEET ALWAYS ASK YOU IF YOU HAVE A CAR

3/20 Edited to

... Read moreThroughout my interactions, I've noticed that people tend to focus on tangible milestones such as owning a car, having a stable career, or getting married. These questions often arise because they are culturally accepted markers of success, easily recognized and measured. However, this approach overlooks a deeper and more meaningful question: Are you truly happy? For example, when I moved to a new city without owning a car, I felt a sense of freedom in relying on public transport and walking, which gave me time to clear my mind and observe my surroundings. Despite not fitting the conventional checklist, I found joy in experiences that didn’t involve material possessions. This personal insight made me realize that the persistent inquiries about cars or other achievements often mask the real desire to understand someone’s well-being. In conversations with friends and colleagues, I gradually started asking people about their happiness and personal satisfaction rather than their possessions or marital status. The responses were unexpectedly revealing and heartfelt, opening doors to conversations about mental health, personal growth, and life balance. It became clear that while material achievements are visible, emotional fulfillment requires more empathy and genuine curiosity. Therefore, while society may emphasize questions about careers and property ownership, shifting our focus to asking about happiness encourages deeper connections and supports mental wellness. Next time you find yourself responding to or asking about owning a car or a home, remember to consider the more important question: How are you really feeling?
