Books I had to DNF…..😬

2025/4/9 Edited to

... Read moreIn the world of reading, DNF (Did Not Finish) titles are often a controversial topic among book lovers. These books can range from novels that simply didn’t resonate with readers to those that sparked strong negative emotions. For instance, titles like 'Being Lolita', 'The Spanish Love Deception', and works by authors such as Sylvia Plath or Mieko Kawakami often generate mixed reviews. A common reason for putting a book down can be an unengaging storyline or characters that fail to connect. Readers frequently seek an emotional bond with the narrative; when this is lacking, the motivation to continue diminishes. Additionally, personal expectations based on book summaries or recommendations can also contribute to disappointment. When a highly praised book doesn’t match the hype, it leaves readers feeling let down. Furthermore, embracing one's reading preferences and vulnerabilities can lead to a better appreciation of diverse tastes. Sharing a DNF list can connect readers through shared experiences and validate that everyone’s tastes are subjective. Joining forums like #dnfbook on social media platforms allows readers to gain insights into why certain books did not capture others' interests, sparking engaging discussions. In conclusion, recognizing that it’s okay to set aside books that don’t fit your taste is an important part of the reading journey. From the recent buzz around titles seen in book clubs to highly rated novels that didn't shine for everyone, the DNF experience is one that serves to highlight the diversity of reader perspectives. This honest approach enables readers to focus on finding books that resonate, leading to more enjoyable reading adventures.

Books I wish I DNF’d ❌
This was before I knew how to DNF a book and… I wish I had with these. My main reasons were either the book was way too unrealistic for a thriller/unbelievable, not age appropriate or just straight up boring 🥱 No hate if you liked these! They just were my cup of tea and that’s okay! ✨
