It’s important to recognize that ADHD is a neurological condition affecting executive functioning — skills like planning, organizing, and impulse control. When executive dysfunction occurs, it can impair your ability to carry out tasks even if you eagerly want to. This is why self-care routines tailored to ADHD can be crucial. Incorporating mindfulness, scheduling breaks, and breaking tasks into smaller, manageable parts have helped me regain control and reduce burnout. Burnout recovery is another vital aspect. ADHD can increase susceptibility to burnout because of the constant effort required to keep pace with your environment. I found that prioritizing rest, setting realistic goals, and seeking support from communities or professionals helped ease this pressure. Remember, ADHD isn’t a measure of your worth or motivation. It’s a condition that requires understanding and adaptive strategies, not judgment. If you resonate with this experience, know that you’re not alone, and there are many resources and supportive people ready to help guide you on your journey.
