Under The Sprinkler

He ran under that sprinkler like it was his life’s mission. 💦

And suddenly, I was 8 years old again…

at a city park, no worries, just water and wonder.

But now, as a businesswoman and grandmom, I felt something deeper:

How many times have I denied myself the feeling of freedom because hustle told me there was no time to pause?

🌕 Jung says: Childhood joy doesn’t leave us — it waits.

🦁 Machiavelli says: Rest is a tactic, not a weakness.

So today, we ran through the water.

He laughed. I healed a little.

Because joy is still allowed — even in the midst of building empires.

As adults, we often find ourselves tied up in responsibilities, forgetting the sheer joy found in simple pleasures like running under a sprinkler. This act not only brings back fond childhood memories but also serves as a reminder to pause and enjoy the present moment. Many of us grapple with the idea that taking breaks may lead to unproductiveness; however, rest is not a weakness but a powerful tool for rejuvenation. According to psychologists, reconnecting with activities that bring us joy can improve mental health, boost creativity, and enhance our overall well-being. This summer, challenge yourself to create moments of joy amid your busy schedule —whether it’s diving into a pool, hosting a backyard barbecue, or simply laughing with loved ones. By prioritizing these joyful interruptions, you'll likely return to your responsibilities with renewed energy and perspective. Reflect on how you can incorporate more play into your life and allow these joyful experiences to inspire your day-to-day activities. Embrace the freedom to be spontaneous, let the water splash, and remember, it's okay to step away from the hustle. Your mental health will thank you for it!
