My acne journey - so far 🤍

This is where I’m starting ! I’ve been using salicylic acid from la roche posay while I was awaiting dermatology treatment. They determined I have hormonal acne! It’s incredibly painful - and these pictures are when it’s calm. When it’s flared up, it swells the sides of my face so badly that I look like I have a square jawline, and my face is heart shaped! So she decided a pretty aggressive form of treatment.

Doxycycline is an oral antibiotic that I’ll take 3 months and then switch to a topical form.

Spironolactone is an anti androgen hormone pill to help balance my hormones.

Trentinoin is a strong vitamin A topical to help speed up skin cell turnover.

I just started this regimen three days ago, but I’ll keep positing! So far it appears I’m starting to purge and the lesions are drying out. What’s everyone’s experience with these things? Has anyone had to take all three? Was it successful? I see a lot about trentinoin but not much on the oral side of treatment. Please drop any info 🥹

In addition to treatments like Doxycycline, which helps reduce bacteria, and Spironolactone, which targets hormonal imbalance, Trentinoin is a powerful ally in accelerating skin cell turnover and improving skin texture. Each treatment has its unique benefits; for example, Doxycycline is often prescribed for its anti-inflammatory properties while Spironolactone can reduce oil production. Commitment and patience are essential since results may take time to show. Users often document their journeys online, highlighting the importance of community support and sharing experiences. If you’re considering these treatments, it's crucial to consult with a dermatologist to tailor the regimen to your specific needs. Share your own journey or results with these medications, and let’s support each other in finding effective solutions to acne challenges! Remember, you’re not alone in this journey.
