Everybody wants to be in control
Galatians 4:17 NASB
"They eagerly seek you, not in a commendable way, but they want to shut you out so that you will seek them."
Everybody wants to be in control. In this verse, Judaizers, (those who would not give up on Mosaic Law) wanted control over the Galatians by displaying an intense interest in them. However, their passion was not motivated by genuine love or concern for the Galatians' spiritual well-being, but rather by a desire to lead them astray.
Isolation and manipulation are a means to achieving control. Isolation and manipulation happen in our school systems, in the media we allow ourselves to rely on, even our "elected" government officials manipulate us with our own money! Everyone wants control, but the only One who is ever truly in control is God.
The Judaizers were attempting to separate the Galatians from Paul and his teachings, so that the Galatians would only look to them for guidance and validation.
So by isolating the Galatians, they hoped to make the Galatians dependent on them and their version of the gospel.
Galatians 4:29 NASB2020
[29] But as at that time the son who was born according to the flesh (Issac), persecuted the one who was born according to the Spirit (Ishmael), so it is even now.
Those who rely on their own efforts (flesh) and those who rely on God's grace through faith (spirit) are at odds, but the believer has the Holy Spirit to rely on.
Doesn't this sound alot like the government that claims it was created of the people, by the people, under one God?
Manipulation of media, of the work place, schools, government elections, the list goes on for entirely too much time.
God is going to tire of these unfortuitous circumstances and soon we will hear;

‘You shall be My people, And I will be your God.’ ”
Thats when all the worldly government systems will have collapsed by the hand of the One King!
Resist the lure of power and money. Stay true to the One God who created you!
Lord, give me the strength, the knowledge and the wisdom to resist the efforts of the flesh. And to persevere through the challenges that lie ahead. Help me stay within Your grace and accomplish that of which You ask. In Jesus' name, Amen.
