Not even a 'tight' fit.
Mark 2:21
"No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made."
Square pegs and round holes..."misfit,"
"out of place," "fish out of water," and "shoehorning," all describing someone or something unsuited for a particular situation, role or purpose.
Some things just don't fit and forcing it produces negative results! This parable is about putting a patch of new, unshrunk cloth on an old garment to illustrate that Jesus's new teachings, authority, and the fulfillment of the Law cannot be fitted into old traditions and forms.
And the same principle still applies today.
Personally: You cannot truly transform your life by simply adding new habits on top of old, unaddressed core issues. Because for change to last it requires a total renewal of the mindset and spirit.
We can't mend a broken relationship with merely a smile for instance. That's a change of face not a true change of heart...
Work: Implementing new progressive ideas without a genuine restructuring of outdated methods will likely fail. The new idea will be rejected, because the existing system is more comfortable. So it will become more broken than before.
Spiritually: It takes an open and adaptable mindset, to achieve the mind of Christ. It starts with faith and ends with obedience.
But rigid religion stands in the way of the Holy Spirit doing something fresh and new.
Always be vigilant, always curious, always seeking, finding, discovering and doing whatever it is the Holy Spirit is asking.
Heavenly Father, thank you for freedom, thank you for leading me to You in ways that are new and refreshing in my life.
Thank you for for revealing Yourself in the most creative of ways, thank you that life can be an adventure instead of a chore.
I pray now that my desire to seek You and find You with all of my heart are not only words but a new way of life! You are an incredible and loving Father who treats every child, like an only child. THANK YOU, In Jesus' name I pray, Amen 🙏.
