"What Noise?"
The Son of Man must be lifted up;
John 12:27-29
“Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? "Father, glorify your name.”
Then a voice came from heaven: “I have glorified it, and I will glorify it again.”
The crowd that stood there and heard it said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to him.”
***
This occurred during Jesus' final public week in Jerusalem, during his triumphal entry into the city.
Jesus' own words in this passage suggest that the divine message was clear to those whom God wanted to understand, illustrating that God's voice is not silent but that men can be deaf to it.
In contrast to the confused crowd, Jesus understood the voice perfectly. He knew it was the Father affirming him. His insight highlights the spiritual clarity available to those who are close to God, versus the deafened spiritual state of those who are not.
It also shows that two people can experience the exact same event and draw completely different conclusions based on their own spiritual receptivity.
Or believers, in the case of reading through Scripture, God speaks to us personally, where we're at, at that particular time. So those who read through the same Scripture are reading the same Truth, but the underlying message that God is speaking to them may be entirely different things.
Once we understand this concept our entire view of reading through God's word daily takes on a new meaning.
Personally, I don't want to miss what God wants to say to me everyday!?
Prayer;
Speak to me Lord, everyday is a new day with it's new set of challenges. I want to know what You have to say everyday before I start my day by trying to figure it out for myself. Lord, as I receive Your inspiration, help me to remember to act on that knowledge. I know now that demonstrating my faith prepares me to receive more of what You have for me.
I want it all Father, leaving no room for second guessing... In Jesus name I ask and pray Amen.
