"Beyond Intellect: The Door to Divine Intimacy"

Good morning VOD 🕊

Ephesians 3.19

"and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

"Beyond Intellect: The Door to Divine Intimacy"

Christ's love, so vast and deep it is infinitely greater than human understanding, it goes well beyond intellectual comprehension and must be experienced personally.

It takes a spiritual encounter to fully grasp it's depth... to truly know it, is to encounter God Himself...it's to become completely consumed and indwelt by God's presence.

It's not going to happen by just learning facts about it.

So who's knocking at the door? Is it God who knocks, or are we doing the knocking?

To understand these verses combined is to get a glimpse of reciprocal pursuit. God yearns for intimacy with us and initiates contact, but He respects our freedom and does not force His way in.

He knocks on the outside, while simultaneously empowering us to knock from the inside, seeking access to His presence.

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened".

* Matthew shows our asking for access;

Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you" (James 4:8)

* God invites us, but we must respond.

Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me".

* Revelation shows His waiting for our invitation.

To truly know the love of Christ —a love that surpasses knowledge—requires this sacred exchange. It demands moving beyond intellectual understanding to the point of genuine encounter.

The door to a life consumed by God's presence swings open on the hinges of human willingness and divine grace, meeting in the shared act of knocking and responding.

To open the door is to move from merely knowing about God's love, to experiencing the fullness of God dwelling within you.

2/2 Edited to

... Read moreUnderstanding the love of Christ as described in Ephesians 3:19 often requires more than intellectual study—it demands a heartfelt spiritual experience. From personal reflection, I’ve found that opening the door to divine intimacy involves a dynamic connection between human willingness and God’s grace. It’s a process of knocking, responding, and drawing nearer, where both God and the individual actively participate in cultivating a deeper relationship. In my own spiritual journey, moments when I paused to truly listen or to seek God intentionally seemed to build a bridge beyond mere knowledge. The familiar verses of Matthew 7:7-8 and Revelation 3:20 took on new meaning, showing that asking, seeking, and knocking aren’t just actions, but invitations to an ongoing encounter with God’s presence. This encounter is transformative—it fills one with a sense of peace and connection that facts alone cannot provide. One practical way I’ve experienced this is through contemplative prayer or quiet meditation, serving as a space where God’s knocking becomes audible and where our response is sincere. This sacred exchange fosters an intimacy that fuels spiritual growth and a fuller experience of God’s indwelling love. Moreover, understanding that God respects our freedom to respond is liberating. It reassures that divine intimacy is not forced but entered into willingly, making the relationship authentic and personal. Reflecting on these scriptures reminds us that divine love is an invitation, not an imposition. Ultimately, moving beyond intellect to experience the love of Christ is a lifelong journey. It challenges us to step beyond knowledge and engage in the mysterious but beautiful dance of seeking and being sought by God, where we are gradually filled with all the fullness of God’s presence.
