"Failing off the Tightrope?"
"Failing off the Tightrope?"
The Agony of the Doorways
The silence in the room feels heavy. You stare at the two options before you, your mind spinning in a loop of worried responsibility. Because you love God so deeply, the thought of disappointing Him crushes your heart. You find yourself trapped in the agony of vague discernment, terrified that choosing the wrong door will permanently ruin your divine purpose.
This is the anatomy of spiritual decision paralysis. You do not want your own way; you only want His way. Yet, this intense devotion can accidentally turn every decision into a high-stakes crisis.
You begin to treat God’s will like a tightrope, fearing that one single misstep will cause a catastrophic fall out of His favor. The burden of the "what ifs" takes over as your brain builds complex scenarios of failure for both paths, leaving you completely frozen.
Shifting the Focus
But your fear of making a mistake assumes your weakness is bigger than God’s power to lead. God does not hide His will. He is a loving Shepherd, not a trickster waiting for you to guess the wrong cup.
If your primary motive is to love God and serve people, your spiritual GPS is already set correctly.
God does not just map your straight lines; He actively reroutes your detours, using even your wrong turns to build your character. You cannot shock or surprise Him. While our choices matter, you cannot accidentally break His ultimate sovereignty. Shifting from this agony to action lowers the stakes entirely.
The Way Forward
Both doors lead to a life where you can still pray, serve, and love. To break the paralysis, test the peace first. Notice which door brings a quiet, settled rest deep in your spirit, even if your mind still feels nervous about the unknown.
Pick one door based on your current wisdom, step through, and trust the Shepherd to slam it shut if it leads to danger.
Heavenly Father, I surrender my fear of fixing a mistake to Your perfect power to lead. I silence the "what ifs" and choose to trust Your goodness. Give me the courage to step forward right now. I believe that You are directing my steps, closing the wrong doors, and walking with me through the right ones. In Jesus' name, Amen.
