As someone deeply invested in the journey toward becoming a physical therapist, I can genuinely attest to how refreshing it is to step outside when the weather is nice. Whether it’s a short walk or simply sitting outdoors, the positive impact on my mood and energy levels is remarkable. The fresh air and natural sunlight not only help clear my mind during intense NPTE study sessions but also provide a much-needed break from screen time. Physical therapy students often face rigorous academic demands, and incorporating outdoor activities can be a vital part of maintaining mental and physical health. I find that even brief moments outside can reduce feelings of stress and improve focus, which ultimately enhances learning efficiency. For those tackling the NPTE or other challenging exams, balancing study with enjoyable time outdoors can prevent burnout. Additionally, being outside encourages movement, which is crucial for us future physical therapists who understand the body’s need for activity. Simple exercises or stretches done in a park or garden can be revitalizing. It also reminds me why I chose this field—promoting health and mobility. If you’re a fellow physical therapy student or someone preparing for any demanding exam, I recommend making outdoor time a priority.
