EP07: Travelled West> East just to use my toilet??

Context:

This was a blind date with a guy introduced to the girl who shared this story. It was okay until... Here goes her story:

Every night, out of nowhere, he’d FaceTime me at 11pm-12am.

When I asked why, he said: “I want to see you before I sleep… to wish you goodnight.”

I rejected every call and told him to just text me goodnight because I'm not comfortable. He still kept trying. But fine, we still continued chatting.

One day, we agreed to have dinner around 7pm.

I spent the afternoon doing a mini CNY spring cleaning in my room.

At about 4pm something, I was planning my time. I can start to get ready now and leave at 5:30pm and reach by 6:30pm.

But at 5PM, he called: “I’m already at the mall.”

… huh?

I asked, “Didn’t you say 7pm? I’m still getting ready.”

He replied: “No rush… but come asap.”

Huh? No rush but come asap? I swear I thought my English deteriorated. Dinner was surprisingly normal. He sent me home. Everything seemed fine.

Then came the horror.

The very next day 7am, he called: “You awake?”

Of course I’m awake, it’s a weekday, I’m getting ready to head to work.

Then he said: “Good. Don’t leave yet. I’m coming.”

And just hung up.

I genuinely thought maybe he was planning to send me to work and spend some travel time together.

7:30am, he called again, “You still at home right??”

I said: “Yes, but I’m leaving in 10 minutes for work.”

He shouted: “WAIT!! I’m reaching already! I need to use your toilet!!”

I thought to myself: “He wants to come up?? He travelled from Jurong to Tampines… at 7am… just to use my toilet??”

I let him in because at this point I thought maybe human emergency.

At work, I kept thinking something’s off.

So I asked him what’s his purpose of coming to my place for the toilet because it simply doesnt make any sense, he can go any coffee shop or petrol station, MRT station.

He avoided the question until he finally confessed: “I figured, I will be able to get to know you better by seeing your home. You know, personality traits all shows in someone's home and family members.”

I asked: “So you came to my home… not to see me… but to investigate me??”

He said: “Ya… but your house. Very clean. I’m satisfied.”

Me: “…”

thank you, next.

... Read moreFrom personal experience, blind dates can often come with unexpected quirks, but the story of someone traveling a long distance just to use the toilet is truly out of the ordinary. It's a reminder that people’s behaviors on dates can sometimes be unpredictable and even invasive. In dating apps and blind dates, it's important to establish boundaries early on. In this case, the gentleman’s repeated late-night FaceTime calls and unannounced visits crossed personal comfort zones, which is a red flag many should watch out for. Moreover, his attempt to justify the visit by saying he wanted to learn about her personality through her home is quite unorthodox. While it’s true that a home may reflect aspects of one’s character and lifestyle, using such a justification to come over uninvited will likely pressure anyone feeling uneasy. It’s essential in dating to prioritize safety and trust one’s instincts when something feels off. If you ever find yourself in a situation where a date or potential partner behaves unusually—whether it’s visiting unexpectedly or asking invasive questions—don't hesitate to communicate your feelings clearly or reconsider the relationship. Trust and comfort are the foundations of any healthy connection. This story also highlights the importance of digital boundaries; for example, unwanted video calls late at night can be intrusive rather than romantic. Dating can be exciting but always be mindful of your personal space and limits. It’s okay to say no and to expect respect from the other person. Experiences like these also make for great anecdotes to share with friends as cautionary tales, and sometimes, a little humor to cope with strange dating moments.

This place has a vast collection of plants and flowers but if you’re here to make your own bouquet then head straight to level 2! During Mother’s Day week, they featured a curated gift collection with flowers in boxes and pre-made bouquets. The real stars of the show were all in the cold room 🥶

My mum hadn’t travelled in a while. So when we finally planned this trip — 8 winter days in Busan, just the two of us — I wanted to get the accommodation right. I debated the price for longer than I’d like to admit. But the moment we walked in, I stopped debating. And by the end of the stay, I knew
