Flowers from my backyard garden

I do not know the names of most of these flowers. But they grow every year and never fail to impress me. The sunflowers we planted them and they grew beautifully for the summer.

Gardening is like a peaceful hobby for me. My grandma and I maintain it everyday. Hoping and praying for rain this summer since we only had a tiny bit back in June. Hopefully it keeps raining like it did earlier this month.

Obviously we have much more plants but that will be for a later day. We also produce our own eggs from our own chickens. And have our own garden for growing vegetables such as tomato, collards, basil, string beans, cabbage, squash and much more.

Thanks for reading!

... Read moreGardening has truly become a peaceful escape for me, a heartwarming hobby I share with my grandma. There's nothing quite like stepping into your own backyard and being greeted by a riot of colors and the sweet scent of blossoms. While many of my flowers surprise me each year, some, like the majestic sunflowers we planted, were a deliberate labor of love, and seeing them reach for the sky, attracting busy bees, is always a highlight. Over the years, I've learned that a beautiful flower garden isn't just about planting seeds; it's about nurturing life and appreciating the unique beauty each plant brings. For instance, those vibrant pink flowers, which I later learned might be a stunning double hibiscus, bring such a tropical flair. And the deep pink roses, even with their delicate petals, add a touch of classic elegance. I find that a little tender care, like ensuring they get enough water – which is why we’re always praying for rain, especially after a dry June – makes all the difference. Then there are the cheerful orange marigolds, always so bright and lively. I love how they add a pop of sunshine to the beds, and they’re surprisingly easy to grow, making them perfect for any backyard flower enthusiast. The bright pink zinnia with its yellow center is another favorite, a real magnet for butterflies! It’s amazing how these flowers, once just tiny seeds or small plants, can transform a simple patch of earth into something truly spectacular. One thing I've cherished about our garden is discovering which flowers are perennials. It’s such a treat when certain blooms return year after year, like old friends. This means less work replanting and more time enjoying the established beauty, whether it's a hardy rose bush or a resilient hibiscus. Of course, we also love incorporating annuals for new splashes of color every season, ensuring our backyard flowers are always blossoming with fresh excitement. And our gardening adventures don’t stop at just flowers! While they create a stunning landscape, our passion for home gardening extends to producing our own eggs from our happy chickens and growing a bountiful vegetable garden. It’s incredibly rewarding to harvest fresh tomatoes, crisp collards, aromatic basil, string beans, cabbage, and squash right from our own yard. This holistic approach to our backyard space truly brings a sense of self-sufficiency and immense joy to our daily lives.
