Many people have been misled into believing that cutting carbs entirely is the key to losing weight, but from my experience, this mindset can actually be counterproductive. Carbohydrates are a primary energy source and essential for maintaining strength during workouts and day-to-day activities. What truly stalls weight loss isn’t carbs themselves, but the act of restricting them excessively. When carb intake is too low for prolonged periods, your metabolism can slow down and your body might hold onto fat as a defense mechanism. I've learned that prioritizing a balanced intake, which includes healthy carbohydrates like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables, supports consistent energy levels and helps avoid the fatigue or cravings that often lead to binge eating. In one of my personal journeys rebuilding my health, I noticed that when I allowed myself a moderate amount of carbs, such as tortillas or whole grain bread, I not only maintained my energy but also saw steady progress in shedding unwanted weight. Rather than viewing carbs as an enemy, I embraced them as part of a balanced lifestyle that also focuses on strength training and protecting overall well-being. The idea is not to fear carbs but to understand their role within your nutrition and customize your intake based on your body's needs and goals. Sustainable weight loss comes from a lifestyle that respects your body’s signals and promotes consistency over quick fixes or overly restrictive diets.
