Out my front window 🦔🐦😻😂
Living close to nature has been an incredible experience for me, especially observing the diversity of animals that come right up to my front window. One of the most heartwarming visitors is Pokey, a friendly hedgehog who comes by every night since the colder weather set in. His nightly visits have become a comforting routine, showcasing how wild animals can adapt and feel safe around human homes. The pileated woodpeckers are another fascinating sight. With their striking red crests and loud drumming, these birds create an enchanting soundtrack to my garden. Watching the male and female pair work around our trees gives a rare glimpse of woodland life right in the neighborhood. Alongside them, a variety of squirrels and other small birds make daily appearances, turning the backyard into a lively animal hub. Interestingly, the presence of domestic and wild animals together is a testament to harmonious coexistence. Bilbo, our indoor cat, seems to have accepted the nightly visitors, including our six chickens who wander freely outdoors. The neighbor's cat, Lanny, occasionally jumps over to drink from our water dish. I find it amusing how Lanny knows he must be quick around the birds — a silent truce of sorts is maintained. Maintaining a welcoming environment has deepened my appreciation for backyard wildlife. Simple acts like providing water and keeping the area safe from hazards encourage these animals to visit and thrive. It’s been a rewarding journey, watching nature unfold just beyond my front window and feeling connected to the wildlife in such a personal way.
