read these if you’ve ever felt alone

if you’ve ever been the odd one out or the ‘other’ in your school or community, these books might bring you some comfort.

both of them feature really interesting stories with speculative elements, and both narrators have lovely arcs where they become more confident in their identities and also find people that understand them.

... Read moreFeeling alone or like an outsider can be a universal experience in life. Books about oddballs and outcasts offer a unique perspective, allowing readers to connect with characters who struggle with their identities and strive for acceptance. Titles such as 'Beautyland,' a coming-of-age story about a girl who is secretly an alien, showcase the challenges of fitting in while also exploring fantastical elements. Similarly, 'The Grimmer' immerses readers in the tale of a teenager returning to his hometown, entangled in a battle against a powerful evil entity. Both narratives highlight the journey towards self-acceptance and the importance of finding community. In today's literary landscape, the themes of individuality and diversity are more crucial than ever, resonating with readers who often feel out of place. Exploring such stories not only provides comfort but can also spark self-reflection and inspire confidence. Engaging with these characters fosters a sense of belonging, reminding readers that they are not alone on their journey. Embrace the weirdness and explore the beauty in being different through these thought-provoking reads.
