Okay, friends, let's really dig deep into the areas of our lives that sometimes feel hidden, even from ourselves. You know those struggles – lust, pride, fear, rejection, or trauma – that can feel like heavy chains? I've been there, and I want to share how truly embracing Jesus can help us break free. It's not just about knowing about God; it’s about having God actively involved in every single part of our being. So, how do we truly 'have God' in a way that transforms us? Beyond the crucial steps of fasting, praying, and studying Scripture, which are absolute game-changers, there are deeper layers we can explore. First, intentional intimacy with God. Prayer isn't just a to-do list for God; it's a conversation. Try setting aside dedicated time each day, not just to speak, but to listen. Journal your thoughts, fears, and hopes, and then sit in silence, inviting God to speak to your heart. For me, this has helped address deep-seated fears and feelings of rejection, reminding me I have a Father who truly loves me and wants to set me free. Second, applying Scripture to your struggles. It’s one thing to read Romans 8:31, but another to meditate on "If God is for us, who is against us?" when pride tempts you to compare yourself or when lust whispers empty promises. When I face those battles, I actively confess these desires to God and declare His truth over them. The OCR reminded me: we declare that lust, pride, rejection, and trauma no longer have a hold on our lives. This isn't just wishful thinking; it's exercising the authority we have in Jesus' name. Third, true repentance and turning away. For things like lust and pride, it’s not enough to just acknowledge them. We need to genuinely repent, which means turning away from those patterns and asking God for the strength to choose differently. This is where God's grace truly shines, giving us the victory over these challenges. Fourth, community and accountability. We are not meant to walk this journey alone. Finding a trusted friend or mentor who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable can make a monumental difference. Sometimes, sharing those hidden struggles aloud starts the healing process for unhealed emotional responses to terrible events. It helps us process trauma and realize we're not dismissed or unaccepted. Fifth, living for an audience of one. This phrase from the OCR really resonates with me. When we focus on pleasing God above all else, the grip of fear of rejection or the desire for worldly approval (often linked to pride) loosens. Our identity becomes rooted in Him, not in what others think or what we achieve. Remember, the victory is ours in Christ. By His stripes, we are healed, not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Let's embrace this truth and let God continually transform us, breaking free from anything that hinders our growth and closeness with Him.
