Here are the products I used that improved my skin after failed trials with “trendy” products from influencers. Keep in mind, everyone’s skin is different so what might not have worked for me, could work for you and vise versa. The one product that I think had the most impact in clearing my skin is the witch hazel blemish clearing facial toner with 2% salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is known to prevent and clear acne. You can use another brand that includes salicylic acid if you’d like. Just make sure to retain moisture after, as it can be very drying if newly introduced to it. Let me know if you guys want to see my night time skin care routine! It’s way less products ☺️
... Read moreHey everyone, building on my last post about how I finally cleared my skin, I wanted to dive deeper into some of the questions you might have, especially if you’re dealing with stubborn breakouts or trying to fade those pesky post-acne marks. It's truly a journey, and what works takes consistency and understanding what your skin needs. Let’s talk about how my routine tackles specific issues and why certain steps are so crucial!
First off, let’s tackle that common struggle: forehead acne and breakouts around the hairline. I used to get them constantly, especially if I wore headbands regularly or used certain hair products. It’s often a mix of sweat, product buildup, and sometimes just general irritation. My routine starts with a gentle, hydrating facial cleanser, which is key. You don't want to strip your skin, as that can actually trigger more oil production. Following up with my blemish clearing facial toner, which contains salicylic acid, directly targets those congested pores on the forehead. I’ve found that gently patting the toner into my skin, rather than aggressive wiping, works best – it ensures the product gets absorbed without causing more irritation. This combo really helped reduce those little bumps and redness I always had.
Now, about acne scars and hyperpigmentation – this was a big concern for me after clearing active breakouts. It felt like one battle ended, and another began! This is where the hydrating and brightening serums come into play. After my toner, I layer a hyaluronic acid serum, which is fantastic for drawing moisture into the skin and helping with overall texture. Next, I apply a discoloration correcting serum. This step is a game-changer for evening out skin tone and fading those dark spots left behind by healed pimples. The vitamin C and hyaluronic brightening serum is another powerhouse for boosting radiance and further improving hyperpigmentation. I've learned that consistency is absolutely vital here; these results don't happen overnight, but with daily use, you’ll start seeing a noticeable difference in your skin's clarity and brightness.
Many of you might also wonder about hormonal acne. While my routine is topical, it plays a huge role in managing the symptoms. Hormonal acne often shows up around the jawline and chin, but can appear anywhere. It often presents as deeper, more painful cysts. My approach focuses on creating a healthy skin environment: keeping pores clear with salicylic acid, reducing inflammation, and supporting skin barrier function with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and a good moisturizing gel-cream. While you might need to address internal factors with a doctor, a consistent, gentle, and effective topical routine can significantly improve the appearance and frequency of breakouts.
Finally, for those looking for ways to enhance their routine, I've found that incorporating a thermal spring water spray can be lovely, especially if your skin feels tight or irritated. It's an optional step but super refreshing and can help soothe the skin throughout the day or between serum layers. It’s all about finding what makes your skin feel happy and healthy. Remember, every step, from the hydrating facial cleanser to the tinted serum with SPF, works together to protect and improve your skin’s overall health and appearance. It's amazing what a consistent routine can do, and I hope sharing my journey helps you find yours!
I love the routine but I ain't got all the money for this 😭
