$38 OMAKASE IN ORCHARD???? 🤑🍣

stumbled upon this affordable omakase place online & honestly… $38++ for a full set in orchard sounded abit too good to be true HAHAH. but the cosy izakaya-style vibe rly brought me back to japan and for the price, i was impressed. it was PACKED, so rmb to reserve!

we got the Classic Set ($38++) and Signature Set ($58++). for the carousel, top row = Signature (S), bottom row = Classic (C)! ⬇️

🍜 𝑨𝒑𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒔 - 8/10

signature had salmon sashimi noodles w shisamo salad, while classic had ebiko truffle noodles w marinated clams. classic was alr holding its own here

🍣 𝑺𝒂𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒎𝒊/𝑭𝒊𝒔𝒉 - 9/10

signature felt more premium here. sashimi was fresh and melted in my mouth, while the shiro maguro carpaccio was savoury, lightly fried and fell apart easily

🦞 𝑳𝒐𝒃𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓/𝑷𝒓𝒂𝒘𝒏 - 7.5/10

had higher expectations, but seafood wasn’t my fav texture-wise. lobster was abit tougher while prawn was softer than expected, but mentaiko carried both

🦪 𝑶𝒚𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓/𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒒𝒖𝒆𝒕𝒕𝒆 - 7.5/10

oyster leaned softer, but the sauce balanced it out. surprisingly rly loved the yasai croquette tho!! crispy outside, soft inside, and had veg so… heheh

🥩 𝑩𝒆𝒆𝒇/𝑪𝒍𝒂𝒎𝒔 - 8.5/10

beef portion was small but juicy and went rly well w black pepper sauce. clams were drenched in garlic butter and WOWW, simple but so good

🍱 𝑨𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒉𝒊 - 9/10

both had rly good variety! signature had more premium cuts, but quality-wise classic was still 100% there. just wished there was more salmon

🍚 𝑶𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒛𝒖𝒌𝒆/𝑪𝒉𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒉𝒊 - 7.5/10

wasn’t the biggest fan of ochazuke cos i’d rather eat the fish raw, but both chawanmushi were smooth and comforting. loved the ikura/truffle toppings!

🍨 𝑫𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒕𝒔 - 7/10

cream dessert was smooth but light, while the jelly was literally just jelly but cute HAHAH

overall, i rly loved the variety but i’d go for the Classic Set at $38++ as i didn’t think the price difference was that huge. Signature felt more premium, but Classic was sooo value for money

𝑶𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈: 8/10 ⭐️

𝑻𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒘𝒐: $96

... Read moreVisiting Hana Japanese Restaurant for their $38++ omakase Classic Set turned out to be a surprisingly satisfying experience that reminded me of authentic Japanese izakaya dining. The cozy ambiance added to the charm and made it feel like I was transported to Japan, which enhanced the overall meal. The appetizers like the ebiko truffle noodles and marinated clams set a flavorful tone for the meal, combining umami-rich ingredients with delicate textures. The sashimi, including the shiro maguro carpaccio which was lightly fried, was exceptionally fresh and melted in my mouth, confirming the high quality despite the affordable pricing. Seafood lovers might have mixed feelings about the lobster and prawn; the lobster was slightly tougher than expected, and the prawn had a softer texture. However, the mentaiko sauce elevated both dishes, balancing the textures with its rich, savory flavor. The battered oysters paired with the crispy yasai croquette offered textural contrast and a pleasant vegetable addition to the course. The beef tenderloin, though small in portion, was juicy and complemented beautifully by a black pepper sauce, while the garlic butter-clad clams provided a simple yet indulgent treat. The sushi assortment was a highlight, showcasing a variety of cuts where the Classic Set still held its own alongside the more premium Signature Set, though I personally wished for more salmon in the mix. While I was less enthusiastic about the ochazuke, preferring the raw fish instead, the chawanmushi topped with ikura and truffle was a smooth, comforting finale before dessert. The dessert itself was light and creamy, rounding off the meal neatly without being overly heavy. For those on a budget yet craving an authentic omakase experience in Orchard, this Classic Set is an excellent choice. I recommend making a reservation ahead, especially during peak hours, as it is quite popular. This place offers a great balance between price, quality, and atmosphere for casual sushi and sashimi lovers looking for Japanese dining without breaking the bank.
