Just call me over please 😂
From my experience as a professional in treating clients, it’s quite common for patients to get curious or a little impatient and try to adjust their treatment table themselves. While their intentions are understandable—usually to seek comfort or find the perfect position—it often leads to more confusion or awkward moments. I've found that treatment tables can be surprisingly tricky to operate, especially without training. They often have multiple adjustable parts—height, tilt, or even different segments—that work together to provide optimal support during sessions. When clients attempt to manipulate these settings, they may inadvertently strain themselves or even disrupt the therapeutic process. In situations like these, it’s best to calmly reassure the client that you can handle the adjustments. Explaining the reasons behind the table’s settings and how slight modifications can impact the effectiveness of therapy tends to build trust. Plus, it ensures their safety and comfort. There’s also something quite endearing about these moments; they show how invested clients are in their own wellness. Sharing a light-hearted laugh can help ease any nervousness, making the session more relaxed. If you’ve ever had a client try to ‘control’ the equipment, you know this common yet amusing experience well. Ultimately, the best practice is to encourage open communication. Let clients know they can share their comfort preferences anytime, and assure them you’ll make the necessary adjustments. This approach not only improves the therapy experience but fosters a better client-provider relationship.
