Well I thought it’s time for a change! My roots have been super grown out since the start of the calendar year, and I was starting to get over the pink so I changed it!!
I first washed my hair with an anti-dandruff shampoo and then applied the Malibu-C CPR treatment for about 45 mins.
Washed it out and you’ll see it did a pretty decent
job stripping the pink and purple.
Next, I applied the Pravana shade 7.11 over the pink, didn’t touch the roots and VOILA!! It came out soooo goooood!!! :)

I know many of you might be curious about Pravana 7.11, especially if you're trying to neutralize unwanted tones or achieve a beautiful, neutral brown. Let me dive a bit deeper into why I chose this particular shade and what I learned along the way.
Pravana ChromaSilk 7.11 is often described as a 'medium cool blonde' or 'ash blonde,' but don't let the "blonde" part fool you when you're going for brown! The '7' indicates a medium level, and the '.11' is crucial – it signifies a double dosage of ash or blue/violet tones. This super-ashy base is exactly what you need to counteract warm undertones like pink, red, or orange. Pink, being a red-based color, needs a green/blue counteraction, and 7.11 provides that neutralizing power perfectly, helping to create a neutral brown rather than a muddy or greenish hue (which can happen if you apply a strong green directly). It’s designed to deposit a cool pigment that cancels out warmth, making it ideal for toning down brassiness or, in my case, a stubborn pink.
When I was applying the Pravana 7.11, I made sure my hair was clean and thoroughly stripped of as much pink as possible with the Malibu-C CPR. This step is super important because you want a relatively clean canvas for the new color to grab onto evenly. For application, I found it helpful to section my hair meticulously. Even though the original article mentioned not touching the roots, if you're aiming for a full transformation, you might want to apply to roots last, as virgin hair processes faster. I focused on saturated coverage, making sure every strand that was previously pink was coated. I used a bowl and brush, applying the mixture starting from the ends and working my way up, leaving the very ends for last as they often absorb color quicker. I kept a close eye on the color development, checking every few minutes. Pravana processes beautifully, and you can really see the neutralizing effect happening.
After rinsing out the Pravana 7.11, I followed up with a good color-safe conditioner to seal the cuticle and add moisture back into my hair. Maintaining your new brown is just as important as the coloring process itself. To keep the cool tone from fading or turning brassy, I now use sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners formulated for color-treated hair. Sometimes, a blue or purple toning mask once a week can help combat any subtle warmth that tries to creep back in. Also, try to minimize heat styling and always use a heat protectant. Cold rinses at the end of your shower can also help seal the cuticle and boost shine.
Before diving into any at-home color, I always recommend doing a strand test! This is where you apply the color to a small, hidden section of your hair first to see how it develops and if you like the result. It can save you from a major color mishap. Also, a patch test for allergies is a must, even if you’ve used the brand before. Hair changes, and so can your body's reactions. Taking these extra steps can make all the difference in achieving the perfect pink-to-brown transformation with Pravana 7.11 and loving your new look!
