If you’ve ever studied for hours and still felt like you forgot everything the next day… same 😭
But it turns out, it wasn’t how much I was studying — it was how.
I found these study methods after getting super frustrated with passive notes and rereading (spoiler: not that effective lol). I wish someone had told me about these sooner, so I’m sharing in case it helps anyone else 🧡
✍️ Blurting
This one feels a little chaotic at first — but it works. You basically just write out everything you can remember without looking at your notes — then go back and fill in the blanks.
It’s sooo good for subjects like bio and chem where there's tons of memorization.
And no tech needed. Just a pen, a page, and your brain.
🧩 Chunking
This saved me when I was drowning in med content. You take a huge topic (like “anatomy”) and split it into mini-goals — like “muscles of the leg” or “types of joints.”
It makes your brain less overwhelmed and helps you focus way better.
I use this app called TinyOrange to organize my chunks with little color-coded tasks and it makes it feel way less heavy 🧡
🧠 Active Recall
Okay, I feel like this one is magic. Instead of rereading, you test yourself from memory.
You can do flashcards, quizzes, or just explain it out loud (even to a wall lol).
It’s perfect for anything that needs strong recall — like pharmacology or ethics — and it seriously helps things stick.
🎓 Feynman Technique
This is the one where you try to explain a concept in the simplest words possible — like you’re teaching a kid.
If you can’t, then you probably don’t fully understand it yet (guilty).
I use this a lot for physics and math, especially before exams — sometimes I just voice record myself and realize halfway like… “oh wait I don’t get this part at all.” 😅
Anyway, I hope this helps anyone else who’s trying to figure out what actually works (without just studying 10 hours a day).
