Here is how I use Excel and R as a grad student:

• Collect data and store them on an Excel sheet

• Ensure that data are properly arranged

• Perform data analysis that is available on MS Excel

• Use R Studio to use analysis tools that are not present in • MS Excel (or if using MS Excel will be more complicated)

• Visualize data using R Studio. The charts in R look more professional and appealing.

More Tips:

• Using R requires coding skills. To resolve this, utilize AI on using R studio. I use claude.ai to assist me on coding stuff.

• As much as possible, maximize MS Excel to save time.

You can also use AI on interpreting your data results.

Do you also use these softwares?

Excel is excellent for basic data collection and quick statistical analysis, such as t-tests and ANOVA. For more complex datasets, R Studio shines with its advanced statistical capabilities and professional-grade visualizations. By integrating AI tools, such as Claude.ai, students can enhance their coding skills and streamline their research processes. Explore the various packages available in R that allow for intricate analyses and visualizations that go beyond the limitations of Excel. Don't forget to maximize the features of Excel for efficient data handling!
