things i learned frsh year

these are just a few things i learned my first year of college.

-budgeting: i had to learn how to use my money responsibly and efficiently. i couldn’t just blow through money on the chance my friends wanted to do something that i needed money for. also save money for groceries and things i might suddenly need.

- time management: i was taking about 15 credits a quarter and worked about 15-17 hours a week. during spring quarter i also worked on a theater show, my schedule was 7:30 at work, classes from 11-3 and then lab from 3-5 then theater from 5-8, gym from 8-10 then go to bed to wake up at 6. i had to learn how to get homework done, clean and take care of myself. i think it’s fair to say i still have some work to do.

- finally the big thing: mental health. i can’t stress enough how terrible my mental health was. i started off with a bad roommate and had to go back to therapy because it was so bad. i thought in a few months i would feel better but i didn’t change until the day i moved out for summer. i wish i could give tips and tricks for this but i can’t because it’s something i will need to work on this upcoming year.

college has tought me so much, but it has definitely taught me that it’s not as scary as you think it is. have fun and live life. #storytime #lemon8contest #freshmanyear #collegelife #collegestudent #learninglemon8 #Lemon8

... Read moreStarting college can be both exciting and overwhelming. One of the most important skills every freshman should learn is budgeting. It’s essential to manage finances wisely to cover everything from meals to unforeseen expenses. Additionally, developing effective time management skills is crucial; balancing classes, work, and personal life requires strategic planning. Setting priorities and sticking to a schedule can help mitigate stress and ensure all responsibilities are met. Mental health also deserves attention during this transition. Many students struggle with the pressures of academics and social life, making it necessary to seek support when needed. Engaging in self-care activities like exercise, mindfulness, or just taking time to relax can make a significant difference in managing mental well-being. As you embark on your college journey, remember it’s okay to seek help and find healthy outlets for stress. College should be a time for growth, learning, and fun, so take full advantage of the opportunities that come your way!

I think your points are really good! I'm in my second year of college and still figuring these things out and trying to keep up with time management lol. 😅

2024 The things I have learned
I learned that there will be a time you will have to face this world without the people who you took for granted in thinking they will always be walking you through life. I lost my mom in 2019 and lost my Dad on December 8,2024. I know I feel lost.

(From almost a 32 year old) Part 3 of my series…. 17. Be the main character of your story. Stop being a supportive role character of your OWN story!! 18. Keep some things private. Not everyone needs to know your business. Especially not on social media. 19. Why seek revenge on somebody

Things I’ve Learned as a New Motorcycle Rider
1) Buy a motorcycle that a) won’t break the bank and b) is something that you feel comfortable riding on. You might see some newer riders buying a Ducati for $32K (unlikely, but it’s happened), or you might see a new rider going for a Yamaha R1 or a bike that exceeds anything beyond 700CC.

What I’ve Learned Since My Dad Passed Away 🕊
Losing my dad changed me in ways I never saw coming. It’s the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t scream—it whispers, lingers, and reshapes everything. I’ve held onto the smallest things—a coin, a cup with his writing, cards, a memory frozen in time—because they help me feel close to him. Grief does
