Spooky Memories Turned into a Junk Journal Spread
I didn’t plan this spread at all, just dumped my haunted house junk on the page and started gluing.
Now it’s one of my favorite memory spreads ever 👻
It’s funny how little scraps end up holding the biggest moments.

Creating journal spreads is one of my favorite ways to capture memories and express creativity. Sometimes, the most unplanned spreads turn out to be the most meaningful, just like my recent spooky haunted house junk journal spread! It started with a pile of little scraps and ephemera, and before I knew it, I had a beautiful, personal reflection of those fun, eerie moments. For anyone looking to dive into the world of journal spreads, whether you're a seasoned crafter or just starting out, there are so many ways to make it your own. It doesn't have to be perfect, or even planned. Sometimes, just sitting down with a blank page and a collection of bits and bobs is all you need. Think about the theme you want to convey – it could be a holiday like Halloween, a special trip, or even just daily life. For my "HAUNTED HOUSE JUNK JOURNAL SPREAD!", the theme was clear, but the execution was purely intuitive. One of the best things about junk journaling, and creating any journal SPREAD!, is that you can use almost anything. Old tickets, magazine cutouts, fabric scraps, pressed flowers, photos, stickers – the possibilities are endless. Don't be afraid to mix textures and colors. The goal is to create a visual narrative that speaks to you. If you have some old photos from a haunted house visit, or even just some spooky-themed stickers, they can become the focal point of your spread. Lay them out, play with them, and see what feels right. I often find that once I start gluing, the story just unfolds on its own. Beyond specific themes, journal spreads are fantastic for daily reflections, dream journaling, or even just mood tracking. You can use different layouts – a grid for structured thoughts, a flowing, organic design for more artistic expression, or even a mixed-media approach like my junk journal. The key is to let your personality shine through. Don't worry about what others are doing; focus on what brings you joy and helps you process your experiences. Remember, these are your memories, your art, and your unique journal spreads. So, grab your glue stick, some fun paper, and whatever little treasures you've collected. Start turning those scattered memories and ideas into beautiful, tangible journal spreads. You'll be amazed at how therapeutic and rewarding it can be to watch your story come alive on the page, transforming simple items into cherished keepsakes.
