New Japanese Izakaya now open in Birmingham
Kaishin Izakaya in Birmingham just opened and the food is fantastic! Their sashimi and hand roll sushi are incredibly fresh, the yukhoe (beef tartare) using high quality beef, and their Kushiyaki skewers were delicious!
The okonomiyaki was also good and the Miso Ramen did not disappoint! Even their dessert blew me away, I got the last black saseme tiramisu and it's so good that I looked up recipes when I got home
If you love izakayas, definitely check them out!
📍Kaishin Izakaya, 176 S Old Woodward Ave, Birmingham, MI 48009
Visiting Kaishin Izakaya offers more than just a meal; it's an experience that brings a slice of Japan to Birmingham. What impressed me the most was the exceptional freshness of their sashimi and hand rolls. The Negitoro Ikura and Uni hand rolls were a perfect balance of creamy and briny flavors, a testament to the quality ingredients used. Their commitment to authentic taste is evident in dishes like their yukhoe, which uses high-quality beef, elevating the beef tartare experience. A standout was their kushiyaki tasting—five different skewers including pork, chicken gizzard, and heart—providing a variety of textures and smoky flavors, each perfectly grilled. This variety is great for sharing and exploring new tastes with friends or family. The okonomiyaki, a Japanese-style savory pancake, featured a delicate balance of flan and toppings that felt both hearty and comforting, which pairs wonderfully with the spicy miso ramen. The ramen's noodles were perfectly cooked, and the ajitama egg was a creamy complement to the rich broth. To round off the meal, the black sesame tiramisu was a delightful surprise. The sesame flavor added a unique twist to a classic dessert, making it memorable enough that I found myself looking up recipes to replicate it at home. This dessert, along with the other dishes, reflects the thoughtful creativity in Kaishin Izakaya's menu. For anyone in Michigan craving authentic izakaya flavors and a warm, inviting atmosphere, Kaishin Izakaya at 176 S Old Woodward Ave is a must-visit. Whether you’re a sushi lover, a fan of traditional Japanese comfort foods, or just curious to try something new, this spot ticks all the boxes with its diverse menu and sincere dedication to quality.
