New Japanese Izakaya now open in Birmingham
Kaishin Izakaya in Birmingham just opened and the food is fantastic! Their sashimi and hand roll sushi are incredibly fresh, the yukhoe (beef tartare) using high quality beef, and their Kushiyaki skewers were delicious!
The okonomiyaki was also good and the Miso Ramen did not disappoint! Even their dessert blew me away, I got the last black saseme tiramisu and it's so good that I looked up recipes when I got home

Hey foodies! I just had to share my latest culinary adventure in Birmingham, and trust me, it’s a game-changer for anyone craving authentic Japanese flavors. For those searching for a 'new Asian restaurant near me' or the best 'restaurant Birmingham MI' has to offer, I've found a strong contender: Kaishin Izakaya. This spot just opened and is already making waves! When you walk into Kaishin Izakaya, you immediately feel that vibrant, welcoming atmosphere typical of a great Japanese pub. It's not just about the food; it's about the experience of sharing delicious small plates and drinks with friends. If you're looking for 'Tokyo Izakaya Birmingham sushi' specifically, you absolutely must give Kaishin's offerings a try. Let's talk about the food, because wow! I'm still dreaming about it. The sushi and sashimi here are incredibly fresh – you can literally taste the quality. I tried a few of their hand roll sushi options, crafted perfectly and bursting with flavor. If delicate, melt-in-your-mouth raw fish is your thing, their sashimi tasting is a non-negotiable. It truly was some of the best sashimi I've ever had, as the OCR highlighted – unbelievably fresh and delicious! Beyond the raw fish, their menu is a treasure trove of Izakaya classics. I highly recommend diving into their Kushiyaki skewers. We ordered a tasting of five different skewers, including pork, chicken gizzard, and heart – these yakitori-style grilled delights are a staple at any good izakaya and Kaishin absolutely nails them. Each skewer was perfectly seasoned and cooked, making them a fantastic savory counterpoint. Don't overlook their yukhoe, a surprisingly fresh and rich beef tartare using high-quality beef that just melts in your mouth. Their okonomiyaki, a savory Japanese pancake, was another standout. It's so comforting and flavorful, making it a perfect dish to share. The OCR mentioned loving their okonomiyaki, and I completely agree! If you're in the mood for something warm and hearty, the Miso Ramen did not disappoint. It was packed with flavor, and the noodles were perfectly cooked with an ajitama egg done to perfection. It's the kind of ramen that warms you from the inside out, especially on a chilly Michigan evening. And for dessert? Please, please do yourself a favor and try the black sesame tiramisu. I was lucky enough to snag the last one, and it was insanely delicious. The rich, nutty sesame paired with creamy tiramisu is a combination I never knew I needed, and it truly blew me away. I even looked up recipes when I got home, that's how good it was! The OCR also emphasized how "insanely delicious" it was. Kaishin Izakaya is not just another spot; it's an experience. Whether you're specifically looking for 'kaishin izakaya photos' to plan your visit or just curious about new culinary adventures, I can't recommend it enough. You'll definitely want to snap your own pictures of these beautiful dishes! They're located at 176 S Old Woodward Ave, Birmingham, MI 48009. Go check them out and let me know what your favorites are!
