... Read moreIn everyday life, we often encounter behaviors that seem harmless because they've become normalized in society, but when you stop and think about it, they can be quite damaging. For example, subtle bullying or dismissive attitudes are frequently overlooked or even condoned. This normalization can make it difficult for individuals to speak up or seek support, fostering an environment where negative behaviors continue unchecked. Another common issue is the expectation to always conform to social norms, such as participating in certain hobbies or dance trends to fit in, which can lead to people feeling awkward or pressured. When these expectations are normalized, it puts unnecessary stress on individuals who might have different interests or comfort levels. Additionally, the phrase "having a smack back" when people criticize others has become commonplace, leading to increased tension rather than constructive dialogue. Society's acceptance of such reactions can escalate conflicts instead of resolving them. Reflecting on these normalized behaviors can help us recognize the underlying problems they cause. From personal experience, challenging these norms has empowered me to create healthier boundaries and foster more empathetic relationships. It’s important to question which behaviors truly benefit our well-being and which ones we automatically accept without realizing their impact. By raising awareness and encouraging open conversations, we can collectively shift away from harmful norms toward a more supportive social environment.

things that used to be normal…
It’s honestly crazy when you think about it. The things people now pay extra for, fight to maintain, or label as “healthy living” used to just be… normal life. Fresh food. Playing outside. Home cooked meals. Knowing your neighbors. Eating dinner together. Less chemicals. Less screens.
