I’ll be out tomorrow but back Friday!

Starting the day as a first grade teacher comes with a unique blend of excitement and responsibility. My mornings often begin early, arriving at school before the students to organize lesson plans and prepare learning materials. The hallway outside my classroom becomes a space filled with anticipation as fellow teachers and students start their day. Managing a classroom of energetic six and seven-year-olds requires a consistent routine to set a positive tone. I find that having a clear morning routine helps both myself and the students focus better throughout the day. Greeting each child as they enter and engaging them with a quick warm-up activity can make a noticeable difference in their attention and mood. Although I’m stepping out briefly today, I make sure everything is in place so my substitute can maintain the flow seamlessly. Sharing these moments with other educators through platforms like #teacherlife and #teachertok not only builds community but also provides an ongoing source of support and ideas. From the simple hallway interactions to the detailed planning before the bell rings, every part of the morning contributes to a successful teaching day. Reflecting on these experiences continuously reminds me why teaching first grade is both challenging and incredibly rewarding.
