Abolish "chartered" health insurance
The hot trend in the insurance business has been about the cancellation of "chargeable" health insurance, which one of the biggest journalists, of course, is "AIA." AIA Thailand has announced the termination of the sale of "AIA Health Happy" insurance, a charter health insurance plan for new customers, effective after March 31, 2026 onwards. "Chuli Blessed" revealed that the AIA has given the highest priority to the continuity of coverage. Over the years, the health insurance business has faced significant increases in the pressure of medical inflation, including over-Utilization & Medical Unnecessity, which has affected the sustainability of the health insurance system in the long run.
Therefore, AIA needs to balance its portfolio, and adjust the terms of health insurance offerings for new customers to meet the reality of medical costs, so that it can effectively ensure sustainability in customer care. For customers who already hold the same policies (Existing Customers), continue to be covered by the same conditions as renewed and fulfilled the terms of the contract.
"Communication of the deadline for the offering is true. AIA announced eight insurance closures as part of the system-wide risk management. For reasons of cost, risk, and statistical information of serious diseases and rapidly changing medical costs, we communicate this in a transparent manner and allow the market time to prepare adequately."
"Chuli Blessed" also said that the AIA views the insured's paid contributions, whether in Deductible or Copayment terms, as an important approach to discipline the insured's use of health services and ensure sustainability for the AIA's own portfolio.
"There are many forms of Copayment, which began on March 20, 2025. Thailand has begun to adopt Copayment in the new year of policy under the new health standard. At the same time, the whole life insurance industry is found in the case of exceeding the conditions in a year, there will be a co-payment in the next policy year, and if the next year is not exceeded, there will be no co-payment conditions."
