I let my husband name our child

Say hi to Braylon Giovanni 👋🏼

I was completely at a loss for boy names when I was pregnant. It was getting overwhelming. I decided to give my husband full creative freedom. My husband told me he's always loved the name Braylon. It just fit. My husband thoughtfully wanted Giovanni as an homage to my Father, Johnny.

How did you name your child(ren)?

... Read moreChoosing a baby name is such a huge decision, isn't it? When I was expecting, I felt completely overwhelmed by the endless lists and expectations. That's why, like in our story, sometimes giving a partner full creative freedom can lead to the most perfect outcome! My husband's heart was set on Braylon, and now that our little one is here, I can totally see why. Let's talk about the name Braylon itself. It’s definitely one of those modern, unique names that has gained popularity in recent years, especially here in the US. While it doesn't have ancient historical roots like some classic names, it's often considered a contemporary American invention, blending sounds from other popular names. Many parents are drawn to its strong, yet gentle sound. Some sources suggest it might be a combination of names like 'Braden' or 'Bryant' with the popular '-lon' suffix, giving it a familiar yet fresh feel. It evokes a sense of uniqueness and modern charm, which I think is just perfect for our little guy! It feels strong and distinctive, not too common but also easy to pronounce and remember. What I love about names like Braylon is that they often don't come with a heavy historical baggage, allowing your child to truly make it their own. It allows for a fresh start, a blank canvas for their personality to shine through. And speaking of making it their own, seeing 'My Name is Braylon' on his little romper just melts my heart every time! The middle name Giovanni, on the other hand, brings in a beautiful touch of tradition and heritage. It's the Italian form of John, meaning 'God is gracious,' which is such a lovely sentiment. For us, it’s a direct homage to my wonderful father, Johnny, making it incredibly special and personal. Blending a modern first name with a classic, meaningful middle name can create such a beautiful balance, giving depth to the child's identity. For anyone out there currently on their own baby naming journey, my biggest tip is to trust your instincts – or your partner's! Don't be afraid to step outside the box, but also consider names that hold personal significance, whether it's honoring a loved one or simply a name that resonates deeply with you. Say the full name aloud, imagine calling your child by it, and see how it feels. Sometimes, a name just 'fits,' just like Braylon fit our little one. It’s a wonderful adventure, and the perfect name is out there waiting for your family!
