How I Choose to Combat My PPD

1. Go For Walks

Fresh air and sunlight can do wonders to a mood. Strolling around a park is one of my favorite activities to do with my son. Most of the time the act of just getting out of the house can help improve my day.

2. Eat Healthy

When I nourish my body with healthy food and take my vitamins/supplements I feel 1000x better.

3. Take A Break

When I have the resources or daddy is home, I like to use that time for myself. Everyone needs a break from taking care of others every once in a while. Make sure you carve out 'Me Time' throughout the day. I love to do face masks or catch up on shows while the baby naps.

All in all there isn't one specific "cure" for postpartum depression. Of course talking to your doctor is always a proper first step to taking care of your health after pregnancy. But these are just a few things I do for myself on a daily to help boost my mood.

What do you do to help you get through the mental struggles of postpartum?

... Read morePostpartum Depression (PPD) affects many new mothers, often leading to feelings of sadness and anxiety. Engaging in regular physical activities, even just a walk, has shown to significantly lift mood and energy levels. Healthy eating plays a crucial role as well; consuming balanced meals rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can enhance overall well-being. Moreover, ‘Me Time’ is essential; taking breaks to focus on oneself—whether through meditation, skincare routines, or hobbies—can help restore emotional balance. Research indicates that social support is vital when dealing with PPD. Connecting with friends, family, or support groups reduces feelings of isolation and helps mothers share their experiences and coping strategies. Don't hesitate to seek professional help if needed; a therapist can provide tailored strategies that can greatly assist in managing symptoms. Remember, you are not alone in this journey, and validation of your feelings can be a perfect stepping stone toward recovery.

Yes, yes, yes!!! ❤️ PPD is so hard to get through and out of. The sun was really the biggest game changer for me and still is. If I’m having a bad day, I take the kids outside and we all feel a little better!
