... Read moreAs someone who was diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, I can truly relate to how important the Percy Jackson series was in my journey towards enjoying reading. I found that Rick Riordan's storytelling was accessible and engaging, which helped me develop a tolerance and even a love for books—a crucial step for anyone struggling with reading difficulties. When the Percy Jackson movie first came out, I had high hopes based on my love for the book series, but I was disappointed by the significant differences and the way the adaptation handled the story. Despite this, I learned something important: it's okay to enjoy something even if it doesn't meet every expectation. The movie, while not a faithful retelling, became a comfort movie for me, showing that emotional connection matters more than perfection. This balance I've found with Percy Jackson has also influenced how I watch and appreciate other forms of entertainment during the off season. For example, I sometimes tune into reality TV shows like Survivor—not because every season is outstanding, but because I enjoy the experience and the social connections that come with watching them. It made me realize that the value of entertainment isn't always about critical acclaim but often about personal enjoyment and shared moments. For fellow fans and readers who are navigating their own entertainment choices, especially during periods when major releases slow down, my advice is to embrace what feels comforting and uplifting. Whether it’s revisiting beloved book series, watching adaptations with a forgiving mindset, or diving into reality shows, the key is to find joy in the journey rather than stressing over perfection. Ultimately, Percy Jackson not only provided a gateway into reading for me but also taught me the lesson that we can find happiness in imperfect things—and that sometimes, our favorite stories are those that resonate emotionally, no matter the format.

Some scenes did feel a little drawn out, but that’s just Tolly being Tolly...raw, rambling, and unfiltered in the best (and sometimes frustrating) way. Overall, though? It’s a brilliant premise. Hearing the entire story from the slasher’s perspective flips everything on its head. Stephen Graham
