Aloha kakahiaka (good morning) from Oahu!

My schools softball team traveled from Big Island to O'ahu this weekend to play against HPU and Western Oregon.

Had such a great time playing with my girls this weekend. We’re back in O’ahu again this weekend to play HPU again for our first conference games.

HYPEEEE!!!

This is what a typical morning on the road looks like for me. Pretty much the same thing every game day except the times change depending on what time we play. Pretty simple and chill to make sure that I’m ready for games that day.

While my game day might be a bit more structured, even on regular training days, I aim to keep things consistent. Think about what your body needs after hours of sleep. Hydration is always first – a big glass of water helps kickstart everything. Then comes movement. It doesn't have to be an intense workout before breakfast, but some gentle stretching or a quick walk can really wake up your muscles and get your blood flowing. This is part of that 'athlete training early morning discipline' that makes a difference. It's not just about hitting the gym hard; it's about consistent small habits. Next up: Fuel! Just like my yummy hotel breakfast with those delicious waffle-like pastries, a nutritious meal is non-negotiable. It gives you the energy you need for your morning classes and any training sessions. I always try to combine protein, carbs, and healthy fats. And speaking of health, incorporating supplements like probiotics, as you saw in my routine, is a simple way to support overall wellness and energy levels. Mental preparation is just as vital. Even a few minutes of quiet time, deep breathing, or visualizing success can make a huge impact. And yes, self-care like my skincare routine or just taking a moment to feel fresh after a shower helps me feel put-together and ready to tackle the day. It’s part of the routines that build confidence. For us student athletes, managing a student athlete schedule means every minute counts. Having a set morning routine means fewer rushed decisions and more control over your day. It helps balance academics, training, and social life. My biggest tip? Start small. Don't try to overhaul everything at once. Pick one or two things you want to incorporate – maybe waking up 15 minutes earlier, hydrating, or dedicating 5 minutes to mental prep. Consistency over intensity is key! Over time, these small habits build into a powerful daily routine an athlete can rely on.
