5 Shows Everyone Should Watch (at least once) 📺

During my study breaks, I like to watch TV, and discover shows that are outside of my comfort zone. These are 5 shows that taught me something new, while still keeping me entertained.

📰 The Newsroom

This show legitimately helped me reframe my view on news cycles and modern media. From complex social issues to interpersonal drama, The Newsroom has it all. Additionally, it covers a few topics that I haven’t seen discussed very often on television (content warning: some topics are a bit difficult to see on-screen).

🇺🇸 Veep

As a Canadian, I thought this show presented an interesting perspective on politics in the US. While many of the overall topics discussed in the series are serious, the humour in the show takes it to another level.

☁️ Superstore

HILARIOUS. This is one of the funniest shows I have ever watched, and it is at the top of my rewatch list. From eccentric characters to interpersonal drama and serious social issues, Superstore brings the audience into the world of Cloud 9 (the good, the bad, and the funny).

🦴 Bones

This is the show that solidified my decision to pursue an undergraduate degree in biology. I really liked that it covered a variety of subfields within science, and I especially enjoyed the seemingly random facts that were sprinkled throughout each episode. Every character brings something different to the series, and I cannot recommend it enough.

🗽Elsbeth

I’m obsessed. Between Elsbeth’s crazy observational skills and her never ending collection of tote bags, this show will leave you intrigued and entertained at every turn. Recently, I’ve become a bit bored with the twists I’ve seen in movies and on TV, but the twists in Elsbeth are so well-written that I am still surprised no matter how many times I rewatch it.

Some of these shows have a lighter vibe than others, but they are all amazing and I wish I could watch them all again for the first time!
