If you have to hold your breath while cleaning
It’s time to switch.
Most conventional bathroom cleaners contain:
• Bleach (sodium hypochlorite)
• Ammonia
• Quaternary ammonium compounds (“quats”)
• Synthetic fragrance
• 2-butoxyethanol
And bathrooms are small, enclosed, humid spaces.
Steam increases inhalation.
Warm air increases absorption.
Children and pets breathe lower.
Many of these ingredients have been associated with:
• Respiratory irritation
• Asthma flares
• Hormone disruption (especially from fragrance compounds)
• Headaches
• Skin barrier damage
After cancer, we stopped asking:
“Does it disinfect?”
And started asking:
“What does it leave behind?”
Here’s what we use instead:
✔ Thieves Household Cleaner
Floors. Counters. Tile. Stainless. Glass. Sinks. Cabinets.
One bottle. Dilute. Done.
✔ Thieves Kitchen & Bath Scrub
For soap scum, hard water, grout, tubs.
Pair it with an electric scrubber and it becomes effortless.
✔ Lemon Essential Oil
Cuts grease.
Brightens surfaces.
Removes sticky residue.
Leaves a clean scent — without synthetic fragrance.
Add a few drops to:
• Cleaning water
• Baking soda scrub
• Garbage disposal refresh
• Steam bowl to freshen the room
And here’s the mindset shift:
Clean doesn’t need to smell like chemicals.
It can smell like citrus.
It can feel fresh.
It can support your lungs instead of irritate them.
Your bathroom shouldn’t require a hazmat suit.
It should support your immune system.
If you’ve already switched your cleaners, comment “SWAPPED.”
If not, what’s holding you back?
Save this for your next reset.
