Sunday Ritual: 5 Ways to Start Your Week Ahead

Ahh Sunday. A day to (sometimes) sleep in and recharge/prepare for the week ahead. Whether you’re a business owner or work a 9-5, creating a Sunday ritual is essential for kick starting your mind, body and spirit for the work week ahead. By having a Sunday ritual, you’re are bound to feel more accomplished and more productive as you conquer your work week. Here are five ways to start your week to ensure that you are recharged and energized for the work week ahead.

1) Listen to your favorite motivational/inspirational/gospel podcast. One of our favorite times to do this is when we wake up in the morning. Typically on Sundays we’ll wake up and listen to Dr. Dharius Daniels on YouTube. Having this helps set the tone and mood for the week as his message allows us to ponder on our day ahead as well as the week ahead. Regardless of what podcast or audio/video you listen to, just make sure it can be positively stimulating for your mind/spirit/wellbeing.

2) Do your laundry and decide on what outfits you want to wear for the week. Prepping your outfits for the week or even the night before, reduces your time and energy to scramble looking for an outfit in the morning before work. This allows you to stress less for those days where things might come up in the morning, and it allows you to relax your mind and your brain as you get ready for each day.

3) Review your past expenses and budget out your week (or month). Depending on how often you get paid, you can budget out your week or month. However, reviewing your past expenses from the previous week or even month can allow you to have more control over your finances. The first step is being aware of how you are spending your money versus your income. This will give you a more proactive approach to spending and prepare for any additional expenses you may want to enjoy yourselves on or even save. You work hard for your money so you might as well keep track of it!

4) Cook and meal prep for the week. Similar to doing laundry and preparing your outfits for the week, cooking and meal prepping can have a positive effect on weekly and morning routines. If you can, we definitely recommend prepping each meal into a container for each day of your work week. Doing this allows you to simply grab your lunch out of the fridge and pack it for the work day ahead, saving time and giving your mind some time to relax before the work day. Additionally, doing this can keep you from eating out more and have more control of what you are putting into your body for nourishment. Your body (and your wallet) will thank you later.

5) Get physical and get your blood flowing! If you want, you can go on a walk/run/hike, hit the gym, or pick up a sport you enjoy. Just get out there and get your body moving and your blood flowing. Again, your body will thank you later.

The weekends were made to enjoy. And we understand that most times it can be a drag to get up early on a Sunday or even get up on a Monday. But if you dedicate yourself to creating a Sunday ritual (or even a day that you have off), not only can you feel accomplished and reenergized as an individual, it can feel even better when you do this as a team with your partner.
