Improper Desires 🐍
Improper Desires 🐍 #improperdesire #focus #desire #jesus #bible
Have you ever felt a pull towards something you know deep down isn't quite right, even if you can't put your finger on it? That's what I've come to understand as an 'improper desire.' It's not always about something overtly 'bad,' but often something that takes our focus away from what truly serves us or our higher purpose. These can be the most challenging to navigate because sometimes they're even unspoken, lurking beneath the surface of our awareness, quietly influencing our choices. Understanding the meaning behind these desires is the first step to reclaiming control. From my own journey, I've learned that a lot of what we desire, whether proper or improper, is directly tied to where we place our focus. The message I encountered really hit home for me when it emphasized, 'Anything that you desire that's improper, you've been putting your focus on it.' It's a powerful truth. When I've found myself drifting or getting stuck in unhelpful patterns, it's usually because my focus has shifted from what's truly meaningful and beneficial to something fleeting or self-serving. It’s a subtle but significant change in direction. It's so easy to point fingers, isn't it? I know I've been there, quick to blame external circumstances, other people, or even larger forces for my struggles. But as the wisdom I've gathered wisely points out, 'Most of the time it comes back to our decisions. We've made decisions based on what we have focused on.' This was a huge realization for me. Taking responsibility for where I choose to direct my focus has been a game-changer. It means acknowledging that my choices, stemming from what I give my attention to, truly shape my reality. So, how do we shift from these improper or unspoken desires? For me, it starts with intentionality. One practice I've adopted is pausing to ask myself: 'What am I truly focusing on right now? Is this desire aligned with my deepest values and aspirations?' This isn't about shaming ourselves, but about gentle self-correction and introspection. The guidance I've found encourages us to 'Focus on Him' (referring to a divine or higher power), and for me, that translates to focusing on principles of love, integrity, and purpose. It's about aligning with a higher wisdom, whatever that means for you personally, and letting that guide your decisions. I used to think I had to rush, to 'make it happen' on my own timeline, constantly striving and pushing. But that often led to frustration, burnout, and chasing after things that weren't meant for me. Learning to slow down and trust the process, as the content suggests, has brought so much peace. When I truly commit to focusing on what's proper and aligning with a positive, purposeful path, amazing things start to unfold naturally. It's about giving up the need to be smarter or faster than the wisdom that guides us and allowing things to accelerate in their own beautiful way. It's truly amazing when you see it happen firsthand.
